Job Responsibility:
JOB SUMMARY
The Intern will help development and maintain an in-house website for the Indie Cinema to help promote the cinema's day-to-day film offerings and special events. The Intern will also design a monthly in-house calendar to distribute to the cinema's membership and general public, advertising daily film showings and events. Finally, the Intern will contribute to the Cinema's overall marketing strategy through management of the various social media accounts and the implementation of targeted marketing campaigns focused on promoting niche films to relevant audiences. These tasks will require strong technical and creative skills, as well as effective communication through social media marketing and other media relations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help with the development an in-house website for the organization
- Maintain and improve the website on an ongoing basis, ensuring that advertised films and events are up-to-date
- Design a template for a monthly calendar advertising the cinema's daily film showings, rentals and events, and update the calendar on a monthly basis for circulation to the membership
- Monitor and manage Indie Cinema's newsletter and social media accounts
- Help establish protocol and web management techniques
- Update social media accounts to reflect monthly film programming
- Create targeted marketing campaigns that focus on bringing niche films to relevant communities, both local and non-local
- Implement these marketing campaigns in an effort to increase the cinema's coverage in local news outlets and community discussions
- Perform outreach to various community members and organizations for the cinema's special events
- Work closely with the Audience Development Intern and the Theatre Manager to achieve mutual goals and joint projects
- Running concessions, box office and projection booth
- Assist in coordinating and managing Indie Cinema's special and promotional events
REQUESTED PROFILE
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Technical skills, specifically in Wordpress website development and maintenance
- Digital design skills
- Skills in public relations and marketing
- Good understanding of the arts sector and independent film
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Ability to work under pressure both independently and with others
- Be creative and resourceful
- Capacity to work towards specific objectives
- Reliability and timeliness
- Flexible schedule
REQUIREMENTS
- Basic knowledge of major social media platforms
- Basic knowledge of website design and development
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Have not been previously employed under an NOHFC funding agreement, or other federal or provincial internship with pay for a period of six (6) months or more
- College or university degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, film or any other related field an asset
- Excellent communications skills (written and oral) in English
- Must be living in Sudbury Ontario
SALARY
This full-time position is partially funded by the NOHFC's People and Talent Program.
Deadline for applications are Friday May 9th 2025.
The position starts as soon as possible. Interviews will be held May 14-17 in Sudbury.
