Solutions Architect (Vancouver)

Overview

We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to fill a key position on our Software Engineering team as a Solutions Architect at our Vancouver, BC office.

As a Solutions Architect, you will be a thought leader and technical expert for our software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design scalable cloud‑native services and infrastructure deployed on AWS, including Aurora, PostgreSQL, and SQS.
• Implement event‑driven architecture using technologies such as Sidekiq, Kafka, and/or RabbitMQ.
• Architect headless shopping experiences with platforms like Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce, or comparable solutions.
• Implement payment APIs and platforms such as Stripe.
• Work with Ruby on Rails and full‑stack architecture.
• Design API‑driven orchestration microservices to support mobile, POS, and eCommerce platforms.
• Transform legacy platforms into modern architectures.
• Use OpenTelemetry and performance monitoring tools.
• Deliver across the entire software application lifecycle: design, build, deploy, test, and release.
• Apply OWASP‑compliant design, implementation, and maintenance practices.
• Write clean, well‑designed, unit‑tested, and efficient code.
• Conduct meetings with vendors (payment processors, development vendors, etc.) and coordinate priorities effectively.
• Map vendor documentation to internal documentation seamlessly.
• Develop cross‑mobile solutions and architecture.
• Architect OLTP to OLAP data models for efficient multi‑tenant reporting.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software developer experience in distributed systems or cloud‑based solutions.
• Proficient in Ruby on Rails, Go, Java, C++, ReactJS, or NodeJS.
• Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Expertise in microservices architecture, domain modeling, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SQL, NoSQL databases, event streaming, and data warehouses and/or data lakes.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, CE, EE or equivalent experience.
