Scope of the Role:

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Human Resources, the Senior HR Specialist plays an essential role supporting every stage of the employee life cycle. Here at DistillerSR, this key generalist role is not a policy enforcer, but a true people champion. You will be the go-to for all things: hiring, culture, engagement and development, making sure our employees and teams thrive as we grow.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Recruitment Lead

• Manage end-to-end resourcing, including conducting needs analysis with hiring leaders, sourcing, attracting, screening and onboarding top talent
• Ongoing build of talent pipeline
• Act as key contact for campus/post-secondary school liaison for co-op programs
• Owning the talent portion of employee onboarding

People & Culture

• Handling employee questions, feedback and concerns with empathy, recognizing situations to be escalated or where further investigation is required
• Key supporter and enabler of the strategic Employee Experience & Culture (ExC) Committee
• Member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee with willingness to obtain certification during probationary period
• Active participant and supporter of the Employee Social Committee, contributing to key employee engagement opportunities

HR Operations & Compliance

• Active champion of all AI-enabled talent tools and processes. Identifies opportunities to deploy AI centric processes in a safe way to drive innovation
• Serve as a trusted BambooHR administrator for all key updates to employee records. 
• Lead all onboarding and offboarding processes for all employees. Lead continuous improvement efforts – coordinating with internal stakeholder groups to ensure seamless transitions
• Update and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment legislation and alignment with best practices. 
• Collaborate with Compliance and Finance/Payroll team to ensure audit and operational requirements are met
• Stays on top of changing employment legislation
• Stay current on evolving talent best practices and industry trends to help keep function progressive and successful

Trusted Advisor

• Build the talent brand as a trusted business partner, providing employees and frontline people managers with guidance on talent matters
• Support performance management processes, training initiatives, and facilitate career development programs
• Analyze HR data to support decision-making and continuous improvement in HR programs
• Support preparation of internal HR communications for All Hands, board meetings and other events are required.

Compensation Lead

• Leveraging compensation database, conduct ad-hoc salary analysis to support recruitment and talent management 
• Conduct fulsome market analysis to support the annual compensation review process

Note: Duties are not limited to those listed above. Additional duties may be assigned as required. However, reasonable consultations with personnel will be made if possible, under business conditions.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• College or University degree, preferably in Human Resources, Social Sciences or Business
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HR role, preferably in a start-up/scale-up or fast-moving environment
• Must be tech savvy, quick to learn new software
• Exceptional communication skills – written, oral, presentation
• Demonstrated success in building strong working relationships with diverse teams 
• Highly proficient in Google Suite and MS Office 
• Strong organizational and administrative skills, able to prioritize and multi-task
• Strong attention to detail
• Working knowledge of Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA) as well as other applicable legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Human Rights Code

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of JHSC certification, or willingness to become certified
• Experience with an HRIS system as a backend user/administrator
• Experience supporting compensation processes, or willingness to learn
• CHRP or in progress

Compensation

$70,000-$85,000 annually
