Join our dynamic team as an Analytics Engineer specializing in BI Modernization, where you’ll play a pivotal role in transforming legacy analytics environments into cutting-edge, cloud-based solutions. This hands-on position offers the opportunity to shape the future of data-driven decision-making by building scalable, governed analytical data structures and models that empower business insights. Start Date : ASAPDuration : 6 months with possibility of extension or becoming perm
Location: Remote within Canada
Required Skills:
- Expert-level SQL proficiency, including complex joins, window functions, CTEs, and query optimization
- Strong experience with relational databases and cloud analytical platforms (Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery preferred)
- Proven ability to build complex, reusable analytical datasets and translate business requirements into scalable data models
- Hands-on experience with semantic-layer technologies such as Cube, dbt Semantic Layer, or LookML
- Knowledge of analytical/dimensional data modeling (facts, dimensions, measures, relationships)
- Familiarity with BI and analytics platforms like Cognos, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI
- Data validation and troubleshooting skills, including developing tests and reconciliation methods
- Proficiency with version control tools such as Git and modern development practices
- Comfortable working across analytics, BI, and data engineering teams in an iterative environment
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with legacy platform decommissioning and reporting migrations
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools to accelerate SQL and coding tasks
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools beyond the listed platforms
- Knowledge of security, data governance, and compliance best practices in cloud analytics
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data, analytics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years in analytics engineering, BI engineering, data engineering, or related technical roles
- Demonstrated success in modernizing legacy reporting or analytical platforms and structures
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to engage in continuous learning around AI tools and new data technologies
