Background & Qualifications
Under the direction of the Life Enrichment Manager, you will participate in the planning, organizing and/or implementing of a recreation program enhancing the physical, cultural, social, spiritual and intellectual development of the residents as an integral part of the total resident care. The ideal candidate must hold a 2 year college diploma from a recognized post-secondary school in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology or a related discipline. Other post secondary education may apply for the right candidate. The ideal candidate must also be an innovative individual with an interest in recreation, must demonstrate capability of relating to residents, staff and members of the community.
Hours may include some evenings and weekends. Flexibility is a must.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Life Enrichment Manager, a Programmer is responsible for planning, organizing and/or implementing meaningful recreation programs within the facility, to meet the residents' needs.
- Participates in staff meetings and supplies input into new programs and future possibilities.
- Responsible for supervising and assisting any volunteers assigned to him/her by the Life Enrichment Manager.
- Meets with new residents, to help acquaint them with the Life Enrichment department and its policies.
- Complies with safety regulations and policies in all Life Enrichment programs.
- Responsible for maintaining ongoing effective communication with the Life Enrichment Manager and other departments as appropriate.
- Valid Class 4 Driver's License and ability to drive the Hawthorn Park bus for activity purposes.
- Standard First Aid, Serving It Right and Food Safe.
- Perform other duties as assigned
