We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to fill the role of Transitions Coordinator. If you are driven by the desire to empower Indigenous learners and create a culturally enriching environment on campus, we want you on our team! As the Transitions Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating the seamless integration of first-year Indigenous students into the University of Regina. Your understanding of the unique needs of Indigenous learners will contribute to building a culturally relevant community that supports their academic journey. What You'll Do: - Crafting Memorable Beginnings: Collaborate in the meticulous planning and execution of The 101: Indigenous Student Orientation . Be a driving force in creating a warm and inclusive introduction to university life.
- Event Coordinator: Curate on-campus events tailored for high school students, showcasing the vibrancy of campus life and the endless opportunities waiting for them.
- Student Concierge: Guide students through the campus web, from navigating course registration to obtaining student ID cards, accessing Wi-Fi, finding tutors, and everything in between. You will be the student go-to person for finding the correct support son campus.
- Empowering Engagement: Inspire students to discover their passions by encouraging involvement in diverse campus activities - be it athletics, the Ambassador program, clubs, student societies, or the University of Regina Students' Union.
- Policy Navigator: Navigate student through the maze of U of R policies and regulations, ensuring clarity and understanding as they embark on their academic journey.
- Academic and Personal Support: Equip students with esential academic skills and skills for personal grwoth through tailored workshops and one-on-one interactions. You will empower students to excel, inside and outside the classroom.
- Creator of Connections: Build and manage a robust mentorship program, connecting experienced students with newcomers to create a network of support and guidance.
- Student Advocate: Serve as a bridge between students and campus offices, ensuring seamless collaboration and support. Your role is to empower students to overcome challenges and thrive.
- Community Ambassador: Extend the reach of the university's support beyond campus borders. You will be responsible for outreach in Regina and the Treaty 4 area. This could include visiting high schools, centres such as North Central Family Centre and mâmawêyatitân centre, and First Nations communities.

In this multifaceted role, you'll be a catalyst for positive change, creating an environment where Indigenous students not only succeed academically but also flourish as active and engaged members of our university community! Position Requirements What You'll Bring to the Position: - Four year Bachelor degree, preferably in a human service field;
- Three years of related experience; and
- Knowledge of Indigenous people, their communities and socio-economics affecting those communities, and an understanding of how those factors may impact Indigenous student success. A strong understanding of cultural protocols in working with First Nations and Métis communities is crucial.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role: - Knowledge of identity development and how culture affects student development among Indigenous students in higher education.
- Understanding of the organizational and political structures of various Indigenous communities within the territories of the University.
- A clear understanding of how the University functions and the role of various units in the endeavour of educating students.
- Ability to make decisions based on sound judgment.
- Demonstrated active listening skills as a fundamental practice in First Nations way of being.
- Ability to work in a team oriented environment.
- Experience working with multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and dealing with sensitive information.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working with people in crisis.
Physical Demands Seated at a computer for 2-3 hours at a time. Pay Grade APT 4 Salary Range $62,909 - $84,893 Annually Status Term Work Hours 8:15 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday Evening and weekend work will be required (infrequently).
