Enterprise Cloud Architect Lead

The Enterprise Cloud Architect is a domain expert applying broad technical skills, with deep industry knowledge and business acumen, supporting infrastructure and application teams in developing technical solutions that promote business strategy goals on digital transformation, optimization, and cloud adoption. The Enterprise Cloud Architect is a subject matter expert in one or more categories that may include: business strategy, application architecture, miragtion, data & information, integration, security, cloud computing, technology, distributed platforms, mobile, and analytics. Enterprise Cloud Architect uses a consultative and hands-on approach to understand business and technical requirements. The ideal candidate will be well versed in agile development, DevOps methodologies, automation practices, infrastructure as code, microservice development, serverless architecture, and be an expert in Amazon Web Services (AWS). Responsibilities

• Clearly articulate business architecture (mission/vision, capability models, capability assessments) and technical architecture (current and future state diagrams, solution best practices, reference architectures, design patterns).

• Develop and coordinate cloud architecture across a variety of disparate areas within the organization. These areas include (but are not limited to) Application development, Application portfolio and life cycle management, Data management, analytics and protection, External IT hosting, Governance, Identity, and access management (IAM), Infrastructure, Integration, Network, Security, privacy and compliance, User experience etc

• Design expertise across

• Management (Control Tower, AFT)

• Networking (VPC, TGW, VPN, DX)

• Security (IAM, SecurityHub, Compliance)

• Application Hosting (Virtualization, Containerization, Kubernetes)

• Operations (OS tuning/configuration, patching, troubleshooting)

• DevOps (CI/CD, IaC).

• Developing reference architectures for the cloud engineering and development team.

• Familiar with a Control Tower based Landing Zone (AFT)

• Perform AWS Resiliency testing for all the workloads on the cloud.

• Enforce security controls and guardrails in the cloud

• Develops Cloud Strategy and co-ordinates Adoption. Will be responsible for clearly articulating to the organization those scenarios wherein cloud services may or may not fit.

• Architect enterprise guidance that conveys best practices and common pitfalls for cloud system design, infrastructure integrations, application development practices, and application runtime principles.

• Identify a comprehensive set of risks posed by cloud computing services and maintain a risk-mitigation-mapping matrix for coping with and overcoming such risks. For each service, establish governance that will allow cloud services to be consumed in an agile fashion to meet immediate business needs yet balance against unconstrained adoption.

• Develop a methodology for ordering and provisioning repetitive cloud services either through internal tools/processes or by using external provider's tools/processes. Promote automating those cloud tasks that can be instrumented and conducted programmatically so that human delays and mistakes do not impact the speed and agility of cloud benefits.

• Design the comprehensive set of enterprise management processes, tools, integrations, and procedures to ensure running cloud systems is smooth. The effort should closely align with IT operations management offices within the organization.

Qualifications

• B.S/B.Eng in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience

• 15+ years' experience in either software, system, or enterprise architecture disciplines

• Must have AWS Cloud Solution Architect - professional certification

• Expertise in Containerization and Orchestration Technologies such as Docker, EKS, AKS

• Knowledgeable of DevOps and CI/CD automation tools such as BitBucket, Git, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, and cloud native scripting such as CloudFormation and ARM templates.

• Expertise with IaC tools such as Terraform

• Familiarity with the logging and monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, CloudWatch

• Expertise with SDLC life cycle (agile and waterfall) and associated IT processes - Scrum and/or Design Thinking certification is desirable

• Knowledgeable of scripting with one or more: PowerShell, BASH or Python

• Good understanding of the architectural principles of cloud-based platforms including SaaS, PaaS, multitenancy, multi-tiered infrastructure, etc.

• Good understanding of all cloud offerings in the market and ability to discuss cloud architectures

• Good understanding of enterprise application integration, including SOA, ESB, EAI, ETL environments as well as common ECA topics such as process orchestration, BPM, MDM, BI/BA, etc.

• Good understanding of the security processes, standards & issues involved in multi-tier cloud or hybrid applications

• Familiar with principles of network, application, and data governance/compliance

• Nice to have related development experience (Go, Java or C#, JavaScript), mobile development, modern frameworks, etc.

• Experience of architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, etc
