Human Resources Specialist

The Human Resources Specialist provides administrative and operational support across the full range of Human Resources functions. This role ensures the smooth execution of HR processes, record-keeping, communications, and logistical support, and assists with onboarding, Learning Management System (LMS) training administration, ad-hoc training initiatives, and special projects as assigned.

Essential Duties 

• Assist with posting job requisitions, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, and managing applicant tracking.


• Facilitate pre-employment processes, including background checks, reference verification, and new hire paperwork.


• Support new employee orientation and ensure smooth onboarding into HR systems and processes.


• Assist with special project requests requiring administrative tasks related to data extraction from the HR database.


• Track and maintain employee signature documents.


• Maintain updated employee change request documentation.


• Develop standard operating procedures for new HR processes.


• Support HR projects and initiatives that improve efficiency, systems, and employee experience.


• Serve as point person for the LMS system, including creating and assigning learning paths, tracking course completion, and developing courses.


• Support employee relations by fielding routine employee inquiries, escalating concerns appropriately, and maintaining accurate documentation of interactions.


• Assist with administration of compensation and classification processes, including job posting accuracy, pay range documentation, and offer letter preparation.


• Support benefits administration, including enrollment, eligibility tracking, and coordination with carriers and third-party administrators.


• Maintain compliance documentation and recordkeeping required under applicable employment law (e.g., I-9 verification, EEO-1 reporting support, ADA/FMLA/leave-of-absence tracking).


• Support performance management processes, including tracking review cycles, maintaining performance documentation, and assisting managers with process questions.


• Assist with offboarding processes, including exit interviews, termination documentation, and unemployment claims support.


• Maintain and update data within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring accuracy of employee records.


• Support employee engagement and retention initiatives, including surveys, recognition programs, and culture-building activities.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.


• 3–5 years of experience in human resources, preferably in an HR generalist or specialist role.


• Working knowledge of HR practices and employment laws, including EEO, FLSA, FMLA, and ADA.


• Strong organizational and administrative skills with keen attention to detail.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and the ability to learn new HR technologies quickly.


• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


• Excellent written and oral communication skills.


• Familiarity with HRIS and applicant tracking system (ATS) platforms; experience with payroll/HRIS software (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, Workday, or similar) preferred.


• Working knowledge of compensation, benefits administration, and performance management best practices.


• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound, professional judgment in employee relations matters.


• Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
