Canadian International Student Services (CISS) is currently looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to teach our ACADEMIC & CAREER PREP COURSE to international students who are attending one of our Toronto city residential programmes. Candidates should be energetic, organized, creative, and team oriented. They must enjoy working with youth and be willing to embrace the diverse cultural environment we offer at our programmes.

Location:

• The CISS at Trinity programme operates on the beautiful and centrally located Trinity College campus in downtown Toronto.

Prorgramme Outline:

This programme is designed to help international high school students prepare for the coming challenges of post-secondary studies and professional life in a supportive and academically stimulating environment. Combining critical exercises in self-reflection with an exploration of the study and career options available to them, students will come away from the programme with a better understanding of their own identities and life goals, and how to strategize for their futures. They will also learn how engaging deeply and creatively with the English language - beyond the basics of “ESL” - can help them realize their dreams.

Qualifications:

Must have the following educational qualifications:

• Master's degree
• B. Ed
• Experience working in a camp setting and/or with children/youth
• Experience counselling young people on future academic and career options
• Connections to University or College administrations teams is an asset
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and a strong sense of responsibility
• Police Reference Check required

Job Details:

• Dates are from July 15 - August 3
• Lessons are taught Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, and Sat - from 9:00 - 13:15 and 2 hours each Monday from 14:30 - 16:30 and 3 hours each Wednesday from 14:30 - 17:30
• Teacher will live off-site, coming to the camp to teach lessons and attend meetings (as required).
• Teacher will be responsible for scheduling and organizing campus tours including a full day tour to a campus located outside of the GTA.
• Teacher will also assist to recruit guest speakers, where suitable to the curriculum.
• Basic curriculum outline is provided, but teachers are responsible for lesson plans.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract, CasualContract length: 3 weeks

Pay: From $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
