Enterprise System Services Programmer Analyst

Job Responsibility:

Preference will be given to qualified employees, as defined in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement. Should a suitable candidate not be found, external candidates will be considered.

Reporting directly to the Associate Director, Enterprise System Services, the incumbent is part of a programmer- analyst team that designs, develops, implements and maintains an integrated set of software systems to support all areas of Sheridan's administrative operations. The incumbent's primary responsibilities involve support and future implementation and development of the Sheridan's corporate information systems. The incumbent investigates new or modified user requirements, designs and implements appropriate solutions, resolves technical problems with existing systems. The core systems are Student Information System (SIS), Finance, Human Resources (HR) with numerous related smaller systems. What You'll Be Doing

• Assessing and analyzing requests for enhancements and modifications to the corporate information systems and implements where feasible.
• Reviews requests to determine feasibility of implementation.
• Meets with users to clarify needs and discuss scope and timelines.
• Analyzes business requirements and specifications.
• Recommends possible solutions based on the existing systems and modules as well as the available technologies and business processes.
• Evaluates trade offs amongst numerous alternatives.
• Informs supervisor of significance and scope of enhancement/implementation.
• Develops an implementation strategy including testing procedures.
• Designs, develops and tests the proposed solution.
• Assigns development and implementation tasks to other development staff and ensures tasks are performed as required.
• Provides guidance to other development staff as required.
• Informs supervisor of conflicts with Sheridan's policy and procedure, staffing concerns and major changes of the scope of the requests.
• Reviews procedures prior to operational release for adherence to standards and to verify that user requirements as specified are met.
• Ensures both user manuals and technical documentation are maintained.
• Provides technical support to maintain the existing corporate administrative systems
• Reviews technical release documentation for changes to the application that will impact its implementation at Sheridan and informs the user community of these changes.
• Reviews existing customizations, enhancements and interfaces and determines how they are impacted by the upgrade.
• Informs supervisor of major changes in technology directions.
• Performs a hands-on evaluation of the upgraded application.
• Participates in fit/gap analysis sessions.
• Reapplies existing customizations and enhancements to the upgraded system.
• Designs and develops new customizations and enhancements in the upgraded system as needed.
• Reviews and tests technical changes and documents modifications required as a result of the upgrade.
• Reads technical journals and attends conferences and courses that could be of potential value to Sheridan.
• Shares knowledge with other Sheridan staff by providing one-on-one training sessions and/or group presentations.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

You enjoy a start-up environment where you can support the day-to-day work while also seeing the bigger picture vision and strategy. You are comfortable with entering unchartered territory and spotting new opportunities. The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:

• Must possess a minimum 3-year diploma/degree in computer science or information technology related field.
• Must have a minimum of 5-years experience working with structured systems design and development experience in Oracle/Peoplesoft environment (ideally PS Finance and PS HR) and 3 years of system analysis experience.
