Optometric Assistant Part-Time

We are searching for a new part-time employee for our Evanston, Calgary Optometry practice to start immediately.

The role of Optometric Assistant is the Swiss Army knife of the optometry world - you will be helping patients with everything from booking appointments to dispensing eyewear. Work in all areas of the practice and learn new skills that can set you up for a long-term career in Eyecare.

The successful candidate will handle all of the tasks in an optometry office from reception, preliminary diagnostic testing, to dispensing and quality control. Your main responsibilities will include:

• Working closely with our optometrists to provide excellent patient/customer care
• Educating patients on eye health and related issues
• Insurance billings
  
• Accurate and careful handling of patient files
• Reception and telephone duties
  
• Preliminary diagnostic testing
• Data entry, accurately completing daily reports
• Helping patients choose optical frames and lenses

Strong communication skills and attention to detail are a must. An ideal candidate is self-motivated to grow and learn. Experience is not necessary for the right person! Part-time to start, with the opportunity for additional hours.
