Remote Lead Mining Engineer - Strategic Planning

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize long-term strategic mine plans, considering technical, economic, and sustainability factors.
• Evaluate the feasibility and potential of new mining projects and acquisitions.
• Conduct technical due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
• Provide expert advice on mine design, scheduling, and resource allocation for large-scale operations.
• Collaborate with geological and engineering teams to ensure accurate resource modeling and mineability assessments.
• Analyze mining performance data and identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
• Stay abreast of emerging mining technologies and methodologies, and assess their applicability.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide junior mining engineers and planning specialists remotely.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in mine planning, design, and operations, with a strong focus on strategic roles.
• Proven experience in developing and managing long-term strategic mine plans for diverse commodities.
• Expertise in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, EPS) and economic evaluation tools.
• In-depth knowledge of various mining methods (open pit and underground) and their associated technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently in a fully remote environment.
• Experience with technical due diligence and project feasibility studies.
