Head of Logistics and Supply Chain

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding manufacturing firm, is seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Logistics and Supply Chain to lead their operations based in Kimberley , Northern Cape. This senior-level position is crucial for optimizing the flow of goods, managing inventory effectively, and ensuring the seamless operation of the entire supply chain network. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in logistics management, procurement, and strategic supply chain planning, with a proven ability to drive efficiency and cost savings. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive logistics and supply chain strategies to support the company's growth objectives.
• Oversee all aspects of the supply chain, including procurement, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
• Manage relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, and other external partners to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
• Implement and refine inventory control systems to optimize stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stockouts.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the supply chain function, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Lead and develop a high-performing logistics and supply chain team.
• Utilize technology and data analytics to enhance supply chain visibility, efficiency, and responsiveness.
• Manage the logistics budget and strive for continuous cost reduction without compromising service quality.
• Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes, providing insights on supply chain capabilities and risks relevant to Kimberley operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., APICS) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management, with a significant portion in a leadership capacity.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex supply chains and achieving significant cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• In-depth knowledge of logistics operations, inventory management principles, procurement processes, and transportation management systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and supply chain management software.
• Familiarity with the logistical challenges and opportunities within the Northern Cape region is a plus.
• Willingness to be based in Kimberley and travel as needed.
