We’re a growing Genie Senior Services franchise serving York Region & Simcoe, and we’re looking for a reliable, experienced Moving Team Lead / Driver to join our team.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll work alongside the moving team while taking responsibility for leading the crew on-site, driving the truck, communicating with clients, and helping ensure each job runs smoothly from start to finish.

The role starts part-time, with strong potential to grow into full-time as we expand.

This Is Not a Typical Moving Job

What You’ll Do

• Lead the moving team while on-site and help keep jobs organized and on schedule
• Drive the company truck safely between job locations
• Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients and families
• Walk through the scope of work with clients and communicate updates throughout the job
• Delegate tasks and provide direction to other team members
• Safely load and unload furniture and boxes
• Assist with packing and unpacking when needed
• Help set up furniture and belongings in clients’ new homes
• Identify issues or changes in scope and communicate them appropriately
• Help ensure company procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations are followed
• Provide a professional, patient, and respectful experience for every client
  

What We’re Looking For

• Previous moving experience strongly preferred
• Experience leading a small team, crew, or job site is an asset
• Comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions while on the job
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Friendly, patient, and professional with clients
• Physically capable of lifting and moving furniture (50+ lbs)
• Strong attention to detail and care with clients’ belongings
• Reliable, punctual, and organized
• Calm and solution-oriented when unexpected issues arise
• Valid Ontario G driver’s licence
• Comfortable driving a moving truck or larger vehicle
  

Requirements

• Must be eligible to complete a police background check
• Clean and safe driving record
• Ability to travel throughout our service area for jobs
• Willingness to learn and follow Genie Senior Services’ processes and standards
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of a job when required
  

Bonus — Nice to Have

• Experience driving trucks, trailers, or large work vehicles
• Commercial or professional driving experience
• Previous experience as a moving crew lead, foreman, supervisor, or team lead
• Experience with basic handyman and setup tasks , such as:
• Hanging pictures
• Mounting TVs
• Assembling and disassembling furniture
• Basic home setup
• Experience working with seniors or providing high-touch customer service

Work Details

• Location: York Region & Simcoe County, including Aurora, Newmarket, Markham, Stouffville, Barrie, Collingwood, Bradford and surrounding areas
• Equipment is currently stored in Barrie, where team members can park their personal vehicles, with flexibility to meet at other agreed-upon locations
• Schedule: Primarily weekdays, with occasional weekends
• Hours: Part-time to start, with the opportunity to grow into full-time as the business expands
• This is a hands-on role — the Team Lead works alongside the crew rather than simply supervising
