Reporting to : Senior Product Manager
Location: Montreal, QC (563b Boulevard du Curé-Boivin, Boisbriand, QC J7G 2A8)
Hybrid Model: Must be available to attend office above two (2) times a week, at minimum
Status : Permanent, Full-Time
Position Summary
California Innovations ( is seeking a motivated and detailed oriented Merchandise Assistant to join our team. This role is crucial in supporting our product development and will ensure smooth operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, thrive in a collaborative atmosphere and bring a proactive approach to our fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Help support the applicable product management programs/categories/account listings from conception through completion
- Create and review charts ensuring complete accuracy of product information, (ie. Line up charts, matrices, factory pricing charts, new product and components specification sheets etc.)
- Review factory quotations in full detail including item dims, costs, packing, container load, etc, to ensure the quoted information is accurate and aligned with costing
- Populate and complete customer specification sheets as required
- Maintain strong knowledge of product lines and ensure materials and systems are kept up-to-date, including but not limited to detailed customer files/quote/submission sheets for all programs, costings, etc.
- Review design specs Product Management to ensure specifications are accurate prior to initializing sampling
- Order, track and follow up on sample shipments
- Utilize TOPS to provide and generate loading analysis as required
- Assist with communicating to factories to ensure timely quote delivery and resolve any product issues; communicate with our Asia Office (AO) regarding sourcing, development, product compliance testing, quality control and production
- Review designs and maintain accurate records of all revisions
- Promptly generate and/or track internal CI item numbers, UPCs, case UPCs and/or retailer item numbers in accordance with established procedures
- Ensure all pre and post sales appointment needs for customers are handled effectively
- Other duties as required
The Ideal Candidate
- Post secondary Education (University degree or College Diploma) in Business, Merchandising or related field is preferred but not required
- Up to one (1) year product management/development or related experience
- Experience with insulated products, handbags, luggage, housewares and/or related industry is ideal but not required.
- Experience working with overseas factories is an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage a high volume of work under pressure while adapting to shifting priorities and environments
- Must possess strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling both qualitative and quantitative data
- Willingness to work flexible hours from time-to-time as required for international time zones.
- A collaborative team player with a positive, proactive attitude
- Bilingual (French and English) both oral and written is considered a strong asset
- Working knowledge of Tops Pro considered an asset

When we opened the doors in 1986 under the name California Innovations, it was with a pretty simple idea - to make products that people loved. In those days, we had no grand plan to become the world's largest supplier of insulated products, most days, we were just trying to keep the lights on.
We focused on making great products that were unique, practical and had integrity. Our coolers and lunch bags were like nothing else out there - insulated for better performance, more versatile and much easier to use. And before long, people started to notice. So we grew. A lot.
We acquired the Arctic Zone® brand in 2005 which brought two very powerful teams together. Some time after that we introduced Titan by Arctic Zone, a line of high performance, feature rich, insulated products that keep the cold going longer.
Our newest innovation is the game changing Titan PRO Outdoor Gear, a line of premium, high performance, insulated products. Titan PRO represents the culmination of our years of experience designing high performance soft and hard sided coolers. This exceptional new line delivers heightened levels of performance, durability and functionality with features that enhance our consumers' experience in the great outdoors.
Almost 40 years since we launched, we have offices in Toronto, Montreal, Chicago and Shenzhen and a large team of product designers, graphic designers, fashion and trend experts, social media developers, videographers and quality control and safety experts.
