Automotive Dealership Controller

Due to the upcoming retirement of a long-term employee, we have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Automotive Controller. You will be given continued support and guidance by our current Controller during the transition period.

As the ideal candidate for this role, you are a personable team player with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment. You have great communication and management skills with the ability to take a positive approach to problem solving and decision making.

The role requires 5 or more years of progressive accounting and reporting experience. The ideal candidate will have an accounting designation or have relevant experience that demonstrates the breadth and depth of skills required. Ford and CDK experience are ideal.

The position reports to the President, working in conjunction with the General Manager and will manage a team of 5 General Office/Accounting staff.

We are now in our brand new flagship dealership, located just West of the Grey Eagle Casino. On the corner of Glenmore and Tsuut'ina Trail SW.

Primary Responsibilities, but not limited to;

• Produce and oversee all financial reporting including monthly financial close activities and quarterly financial reviews
• Interprets the financial statement regularly and informs Dealer and General Manager of developing trends
• Participates in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership
• Maintains an effective cash management system that forecasts cash funds
• Oversee all Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Vehicle Deals and Inventory and Office Services and provide coverage as needed
• Ensures compliance with all applicable government regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, taxes and payments. (GST/HST & PST, Luxury Tax, Tire Levy, AMVIC etc.)
• Coordinates and directs annual audit (or review) and physical inventory.
• Evaluate current procedures and identify areas of improvement.
• Oversight of various monthly account reconciliations to ensure items are processed properly
• Develop and execute analysis of business initiatives and makes recommendations based on results
• Serves as a role model for others in the organization, embodying honesty, integrity and participative leadership techniques
• Employ flexibility and the ability to manage change
• Continually strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership
• Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned

What are we looking for?

Education:

• University degree, preferably in Accounting or Business
• Professional accounting designation - or the equivalent work experience

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years related work experience
• Ford and CDK experience preferred
• Extensive knowledge and experience within own function and general knowledge of areas, departments and/or function(s) within and across other disciplines
• Leadership skills driven by values that support the objectives of the company
• Has breadth and depth of a wide range of accounting concepts, principles, and practices
• Understanding of the business, operations, key drivers, and success factors
• Duties involving considerable judgment to work independently, apply existing methods, techniques and procedures to meet operational requirements

• Problem solving of various duties involving related process and methods
