Volunteer Role: Connecting with Seniors
VHA Home HealthCare
Enhance seniors' lives with VHA Home HealthCare through engaging volunteer visits. Support combatting social isolation with meaningful conversations and activities tailored to individual needs. VHA Home HealthCare is looking for compassionate Seniors Visiting Volunteers in East Toronto. This role requires a four-hour weekly commitment, focusing on providing companionship and gentle activities to frail seniors. Volunteers must be sensitive and follow health guidelines to ensure client safety. Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with seniors weekly through conversation
- Organize gentle activities like games and puzzles
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently
- Report client needs and changes to supervisors
- Maintain a consistent volunteering schedule
- Related experience caring for seniors
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Compassionate and friendly approach
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity in care
- Commitment for at least 24 weeks
