ABOUT THE ROLE

Sister Margaret Smith Centre is seeking a full-time Addiction and Mental Health Counsellor 1 to work within the Women's Live-In Program.

Primary responsibilities and tasks will include assessment, case management, facilitating and processing group therapy, providing individual counselling sessions, and working within the interdisciplinary team in the live-in women’s treatment program.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor level University degree in Social Work or related discipline
• Registration with the College of Registered Social Workers (RSW) or equivalent
• Training or experience in trauma and crisis intervention
• Minimum three years of clinical experience working with older adults
• Experience in mental health and addiction issues affecting older adults

Skills/Abilities:

• Understanding of Indigenous culture and Northern communities
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary bio-psychosocial models of care
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)  where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
• Registered member of Professional College in good standing
• Ability to work irregular hours
• Valid Ontario driver's license: Class G
