Opportunity

The Edmonton Region Hydrogen HUB is seeking a creative and tech-savvy Communications and Marketing Intern to support the planning and execution of the HUB's communications and marketing initiatives. In this role, you will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to drive economic growth and collaboration across the Edmonton region's hydrogen ecosystem. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience leading and supporting impactful projects that contribute to the HUB's digital presence, overarching brand, story, and mission.

Responsibilities

As a member of the Marketing and Communications team, the Communications and Marketing Intern will contribute to a range of high-impact projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Social media: Design, manage, and execute an engaging content calendar across the HUB's various platforms (LinkedIn, X, YouTube).
• Marketing campaign execution: Assist in planning and implementing targeted digital marketing campaigns to promote the HUB.
• Content creation: Coordinate the production of digital, print, and rich media content for the HUB's website, social media, newsletters, email campaigns, and events (e.g., articles, press releases, presentations, videos, infographics, and captions).
• Graphic design: Lead and coordinate the design and production of marketing materials for key projects, including brochures, displays, and digital content.
• Event support: Support the planning, coordination, and promotion of events, webinars, and networking sessions related to hydrogen initiatives.
• Digital asset management: Develop and maintain a centralized library of marketing assets that illustrate the HUB's story (e.g., imagery, infographics, videos).
• Strategy innovation: Research best practices and emerging trends, identifying new opportunities to enhance HUB initiatives.
• General: Participate in the activities of Edmonton Global and the Edmonton Region Hydrogen HUB — we're a small shop and everyone chips in.

This list is not intended to be exhaustive. Activities will be added or removed dependent on priorities, capacity, and each intern's interests and learning priorities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a current student (or a recent graduate) studying communications, public relations, marketing, business, digital media, or a related field, with a keen interest in digital marketing and content and a demonstrated ability to manage and contribute to projects. Key qualifications include:

• You are passionate about social media with familiarity in platforms such as LinkedIn, X, and YouTube (experience with Hootsuite and HubSpot is an asset).
• You know how to interpret and execute digital marketing strategies using content management systems and analytics tools (experience with WordPress and Google Analytics is an asset).
• You're a natural storyteller with strong writing and editing skills who pays close attention to the details.
• You have a keen eye for design and an interest in learning design tools (graphic design experience is an asset).
• You are highly organized and comfortable handling multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• You thrive in a team environment and are collaborative and helpful by nature.
• You're comfortable speaking in public or interested in honing the skill (nice to have).
• You're interested in economic development, the hydrogen economy, or not-for-profits (nice to have).

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements prior to their first day of employment:

• Have a valid Social Insurance Number.
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Work conditions

• Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
• Lifting or moving up to 20 lbs may be required.
• Normal hours will be 8:30 to 4:30, Monday to Friday, however, support for events, investor visits, and other initiatives will require occasional evening and weekend hours.
• This is an onsite position at Edmonton Global's office.
