Senior Contracts Advisor

Reporting to the SCM Manager, you will support the Project Integrated Team with contract management activities. Minimum Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in a contracts administration role with a focus on oil and gas, mining or utilities
• Post - secondary education in business, economics, engineering, supply chain or related field
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (advanced Excel) and with SAP is preferred
• Well developed verbal and written communication skills, with independent judgement in developing strategies and making recommendations on projects/assignments
• Excellent time management skills and able to meet tight deadlines and multiple projects
• High attention to detail when processing numerical data with good accuracy

Responsibilities:

• Ensure understanding of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) including sourcing strategies and SPP, commercial strategies, procurement plan and contracting plan
• Ensure understanding of SCM Projects annual goals and how these translate into your role with intent to understand your contribution within the project
• Build relationships with the project execution team, identifying project priorities so as to provide effective SCM support for successful project execution
• Provide expertise advice/leadership to the integrated project team on all SCM related matters and ensure adherence to project SCM process and procedures
• Be conversant with the OEMS Element 10 process and Contractor Management Process for Projects ensuring appropriate communication/escalation of any irregularities affecting project execution
• Full understanding of the project ADEM deliverables and gated process, ensuring appropriate communication/ escalation of any irregularities in the project execution, if so identified.
• Liaise with and facilitate discussions amongst various project stakeholder/ integrated team members for effective performance of SCM activities
• Consult with senior specialists and advisors in other Suncor functional groups (e.g., Category Management, Commercial, Legal, EH&S, Finance, etc.) on complex and difficult issues to ensure appropriate decision recommendations are made
• Manage the contract formation, execution and close-out activities ensuring contracting plans and other deliverables are aligned with annual goals
• Ensure appropriate creation, utilization and implementation of tracking systems, ensuring signing authorities are adhered to for commitments
• Attest contractors' invoices in compliance with established procedures and certify and approve the invoices
• Ensure change management processes for contracts are applied considering all stakeholders.
• Resolve Contractor claims and back-charges and develop strategies in the preparation of claims defense cases
• Develop the timelines and details for management of contractor performance assessments with relevant project stakeholders and ensure completion of such assessments prior to contract close out
• Support the warranty management process.

Location and other Key Details:

• This is an office- based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave SW. Hours of work are a regular 40-hour, Monday to Friday
