Dámbü Tän Kets'ádań Kų̀ - Cliff Trail Elementary is a brand-new, state-of-the-art Kindergarten to Grade 7 school that honours students’ developmental stages and cultural identities, fostering a strong sense of belonging. Through responsive and inclusive teaching practices, we support every learner in achieving their highest academic potential.

Located on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, our school serves Whistle Bend-a rapidly growing and culturally diverse community. As the neighbourhood’s first school, Dámbü Tän Kets'ádań Kų̀ brings together families, staff, students, and community members to build strong relationships, deepen belonging, and nurture the next generation of learners.

Bachelor of Education or an equivalent;

Recent teaching experience in an elementary classroom supporting students with a wide range of academic abilities and diverse learning needs, including students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Student Learning Plans (SLPs), and Behaviour Support Plans;

Demonstrated understanding and application of Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) and Ready to Learn school practices;

Experience teaching English Language Learners (ELL);

Experience teaching literacy at the intermediate level;

Experience using reading assessments and student data to inform instruction and guide formative assessment practices;

TESL certification (considered an asset);

Post-graduate coursework or certification in literacy, reading, or language arts (considered an asset);

Experience with structured literacy programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Barton Reading & Spelling System, and/or the Wilson Reading System (considered an asset);

Experience teaching Reading Rev to elementary-aged students (considered an asset).

Effective and respectful classroom management based on a developmental understanding of children;

Ability to include and support Educational Assistants in the implementation of Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Support Plans and Safety Plans;

Strong classroom management that includes implementation of social/emotional pedagogy;

Knowledge of positive behaviour support, preventative practices and replacement practices, resiliency, the restorative justice framework, trauma-informed care to help guide student learning;

Ability to integrate experiential learning and adaptive programming to better meet the special needs of students when required;

To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first;

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
