Project Engineer - Electrical & Automation

Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy in North America, is looking for an Intermediate Engineer to join our Edmonton, Alberta team. Spark Power provides a wide range of services to clients, including power system field services, engineering services, maintenance planning, project management, automation services, mechanical engineering support services, training services, and thermographic scanning.

Manage and co-ordination of electrical design, drafting, material procurement, construction and commissioning on projects.

Prepare technical documents including electrical drawings, SLD's, three lines, equipment and site layouts, cable and conduit schedules, electrical databases, technical specifications and contract documents relating to medium and high voltage equipment.

Perform and verify electrical design calculations.

Assist senior engineering staff in preparing reports, studies, and drawings, as well as reviewing design documents.

Perform other duties as directed by senior engineering personnel including technical work on assignments of restricted scope.

Use a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques in solving problems.

Apply detailed instruction and outlined methods of analysis, design, and computation to carry out project duties.

Make decisions on project work based on established guidelines.

Provide recommendations and technical input to senior engineering personnel.

Provide direction to and coordinate with internal drafting team.

• Graduate of an accredited Electrical Engineering program.
• Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code. Familiarity with international standards is advantageous.
• Proficiency with ETAP or similar software.
• 4-8 years' experience in heavy industrial sectors, utilities, processing, power generation, or mining.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (a copy of a valid work permit may be required)
• Passion for supporting and assisting colleagues in their work
• Completion of medical (to access certain client sites)
• Class 5 driver's license including clean driving record
