YOUTH CARE WORKER - 35 Hours

WAGE: $32.32 - $33.67 hourly wage effective July 1, 2024
With direction from the teacher or administrator, the YCW assists in developing and implementing individual education plans for students with emotional, social, or behavioral difficulties.
Conducts home and community visits.
Assists in the development and implementation of specific academic/social interventions with students who present unique and challenging behaviors.
Organizes and participates in field trips and other special events.
Regularly communicates with parents and community agencies under the direction of the teacher/administrator.
Assumes additional responsibilities, which are site-specific.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, SKILLS (YOUTH CARE WORKER)
Two year diploma/certificate (60 credits) from any accredited college or university in areas related to child or youth care and counselling.
Two years of experience ( which includes one year experience in the public education system) with exceptional children or youth in the appropriate age range.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Ability to operate or learn to operate school equipment (e.g. recorders, computers, etc.)
Basic computer knowledge skills required.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Common classroom and playground materials/equipment (e.g. art supplies, audio-visual equipment, sports equipment, etc.)
