AEP Cambridge North is a Canadian owned and operated metal manufacturing company specializing in prototyping and custom projects. At AEP Cambridge North we use the latest in cutting edge technology to provide clients with machining fabricating welding and design business since 1991 we run medium to small production projects in our air-conditioned facility that is conveniently located in Cambridge.
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and preparing CNC machines for production runs. A deep understanding of 5-axis machining technical drawings and CNC programming is essential.
Interpret and analyze engineering blueprints technical drawings and work instructions.
Load raw materials into the machine ensuring proper alignment and secure positioning.
Input and modify CNC programs to match specific job requirements.
Operate 5-axis CNC machines to perform complex tasks such as milling drilling and cutting from multiple angles and planes.
Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on finished products using precision measuring instruments.
Perform routine maintenance on 5-axis CNC machines including cleaning lubricating and adjusting components.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or operational issues that arise during machine set-up or production.
Ensure all produced parts meet strict quality standards and specifications.
Maintain accurate records of machine settings production output and maintenance activities.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in CNC machining or a related field preferred.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in setting up and operating 5-axis CNC machines.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints technical drawings and CNC programs.
In-depth knowledge of 5-axis CNC machine operations including tool selection machine calibration and program input.
Understands complex datum structures including those for large weldments.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical and operational issues.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to lift and move heavy materials and tools (up to 50 lbs).
