Gilbert & Larkin LLP is seeking an Accounting Technician to join our team in Bracebridge. This role is well suited to a junior-level public practice professional who is looking to build experience in accounting, tax, and client service in a small firm environment. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of engagements and will have the opportunity to develop practical experience across both accounting and tax files. Assist with the preparation of corporate, personal, and trust income tax returns
Prepare bookkeeping files, account reconciliations, and adjusting entries
Assist with GST/HST returns, payroll remittances, and other government filings
Support partners and other team members on a variety of accounting and tax engagements
Diploma or degree in accounting, commerce, or a related field
Interest in pursuing the CPA designation is an asset
Some experience in public accounting or bookkeeping is preferred
Experience preparing personal tax returns, bookkeeping files, or year-end working papers is an asset
Basic understanding of accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping , and Canadian tax compliance requirements
Familiarity with accounting and tax software
Strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
Additional Assets
Experience working with owner-managed businesses and private corporations
Exposure to corporate tax returns and year-end engagements
Willingness to learn and grow in both accounting and tax
Opportunity for broad hands-on experience in accounting and tax
Work in the Bracebridge/Muskoka community with a local and established firm
$24 - $27 per hour
