Description Home Cook Opportunity – Toronto, Ontario (Meal Preparation) Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday, approx. 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM (3 hours/visit) Location: Toronto, ON
About the Client: This role supports an adult client currently living in Toronto while undergoing cancer treatment. The client is originally from Edmonton and is temporarily based in Toronto for the duration of treatment, which is expected to span several years. The client is self-sufficient in most daily tasks but has limited energy and a reduced appetite as a result of treatment, making meal preparation both difficult and critically important.
The client follows a cancer-specific diet with certain food restrictions — the caregiver will need to understand and work within these dietary guidelines. The client is Korean and would like Korean dishes prepared that are both nutritious and genuinely enjoyable — quality and flavour matter greatly, as appetite loss is a significant challenge. Meals are prepared in advance for the client to reheat and serve independently — no table service or feeding assistance is required. The client is managing care independently and is clear about what they need.
Responsibilities:
Meal preparation — preparing Korean meals that are flavourful, nutritious, and aligned with the client's cancer treatment diet restrictions Batch cooking — preparing enough food during each visit that the client can reheat and eat independently between visits Dietary awareness — understanding and respecting the client's specific dietary restrictions related to cancer treatment; ability to discuss and adapt meals as restrictions evolve
What We're Looking For: This is not a traditional PSW role. The primary qualification for this position is cooking ability, not personal care experience.
Experienced and confident Korean home cook — the ability to prepare authentic, flavourful Korean meals is the most important requirement Familiarity with cancer patient dietary needs or therapeutic/nutritional cooking is a strong asset Korean-speaking caregiver strongly preferred Comfortable working independently in a client's kitchen Reliable, respectful of the client's space, and sensitive to the challenges of ongoing medical treatment Warm and personable — the client is going through a difficult period and a positive presence matters
Schedule: Starting schedule: Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday, approximately 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM Schedule may shift slightly depending on the client's treatment appointments. Flexibility is appreciated.
Pay & Hours CAD$30.00/hr Hourly rate
