As the Fleet & Equipment Coordinator, you will play a vital role in managing the life cycle of a diverse range of assets, from small trimmers and chainsaws to large specialized trailers and scrapers. Reporting to the General Supervisor, you will be the primary link between operational teams and Fleet & Facility Services to ensure equipment availability and reliability. You will provide technical expertise in determining equipment specifications while maintaining detailed inventory and disposal records. Your work will directly impact the efficiency of branch operations through strategic planning and coordination of maintenance and inspections. Additionally, you will oversee the day-to-day activities of the equipment repair team to ensure all assets are in peak working order. This is a dynamic position that balances technical asset management with strong relationship-building across various city departments.
Coordinate and manage complex technical and specialized fleet and equipment assets across the branch
Collaborate with operational teams and partners to develop procurement plans and equipment specifications
Ensure annual maintenance and inspection schedules are strictly followed to maintain equipment safety and reliability
Conduct audits of equipment locations and maintain a comprehensive inventory control process
Analyze fleet data, including utilization and maintenance costs, to support capital planning and budgeting
Research emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in fleet management to drive process improvements
Address concerns from community partners and collaborators regarding equipment and fleet operations
Completion of a university bachelor’s degree in a related field. Assets:
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Asset Management system experience
Project management experience
Proficiency in SAP
Coordinate the planning, procurement, and lifecycle management of branch-wide fleet and equipment, ranging from small tools to complex technical assets
Lead the seasonal change-over of equipment to ensure the branch is prepared for the pivotal transitions between summer and winter operations
Act as the primary subject matter expert to ensure vendors adhere to technical specifications and contract timelines
Collaborate with internal partners to ensure all vehicles and equipment follow strict annual maintenance and inspection schedules to maintain operational readiness
Serve as a subject matter expert to determine equipment specifications, draft contracts, and ensure vendors adhere to technical requirements
Maintain detailed inventory records, conduct audits, and analyze utilization data to support capital planning and process improvements
Independently manage the removal of unsafe or damaged equipment from service to ensure the safety of our field teams and the public
Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Google Suite

Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Compliance with the City of Edmonton’s safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
