Manager - Planning & Engineering

Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering, the Director, Engineering is accountable for all engineering disciplines during design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of the Rook I Project. The Director, Engineering will manage overall engineering delivery, including planning and monitoring of all engineering services providers. The role ensures technical excellence, schedule adherence, resource alignment, and integration across engineering functions to meet project and corporate objectives.

This role requires leadership and technical stewardship to ensure the successful design, construction, and operation of the project, while optimizing performance and maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.

The role will be based in our Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Project Office with regular trips to the Project Site.

Oversee and coordinate all the engineering requirements for the Project, including all discipline engineering and managing the engineering service providers.

Lead the engineering services team including in-depth review and approval of engineering service provider deliverables on behalf of NexGen including coordination of their work, tracking progress, and ensuring that objectives are met.

Ensure that engineering is effectively integrated across various engineering providers.

Interface and coordinate with all relevant NexGen stakeholders including the Compliance, Environmental, and Health & Safety teams.

Establish requirements for the handover of technical deliverables to NexGen, in collaboration with the operations team.

Provide timely review and response to RFI’s received by NexGen from the engineering consultants and other providers.

Technical evaluation of proposals and tenders.

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering. Eng is required and being a currently certified Qualified Person would be preferred.

A minimum of 20 years of Engineering in Project Delivery experience.

Strong experience managing engineering service providers in mega capital greenfield projects.

Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Proficiency with engineering management systems including document controls.

Takes a proactive approach to building relationships by actively participating as a prepared team member, demonstrating flexibility and respect for different work styles.

Maintains quality and safety standards to ensure NexGen's Elite Standards are met across all work streams.
