Bilingual Legal Assistant - Permanent - 18719
Our client is a law firm, located in downtown Ottawa. They are looking for an experienced, and fluently bilingual, legal assistant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Perform clerical, administrative and general office duties for the Ottawa lawyers as requested and assigned by the Ottawa Office Administrator
Create, type, format, review and proofread documents and correspondence to ensure compliance with legal procedures and grammatical usage
Assist in the preparation and formatting of legal documents
Make travel arrangements, including booking flights, hotels, vehicle rental, etc.
Set up and maintain filing systems, utilizing knowledge of legal records and procedures (including a tickler system)
Enter student/lawyer dockets into accounting software (French and/or English)
Strong set of technical skills which include, but are not limited to, the Rules of Civil Procedure, court filing procedures and time limitations
Demonstrates competence and effective communication (written and orally) as well as proper grammar, spelling and punctuation in French and English
Strong attention to detail, and excellent proofreading skills in French and English
Working knowledge of legal office administration through the completion of an office procedures course, or related experience
Working knowledge of Word, AdobePro, Excel, and Outlook, NetDocs, PowerPoint and Tikit an asset
