Mechanical Designer (remote)

Our client, one of the world's leading manufacturers of bulk material handling equipment, is currently looking for a Mechanical Designer to join their team on an immediate permanent basis, working out of their office in Mississauga, Ontario. You will be responsible for complete mechanical design of equipment including approval, construction and fabrication drawings, and serve as a technical bridge between Sales, Production, and Procurement, ensuring all designs are high-performing, cost-effective, and compliant with international safety standards.

Engineering & Design Development
Execute complete mechanical designs for equipment, including conceptual sketches, approval drawings, and detailed fabrication/construction packages.
Utilize 3D modeling software (Autodesk Inventor preferred) to transform conceptual ideas into functional, manufacturable designs.
Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and spare parts lists.
Collaborate with the Electrical Engineering department to integrate electro-mechanical systems and assemblies.
Technical Documentation & Compliance
Prepare "As-Built" documentation following the fabrication and assembly phases.
Develop project documentation, including Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
Act as the technical point of contact for customers, suppliers, and internal sales representatives.
Provide technical assistance to Parts & Service departments to resolve customer issues in a timely manner.
Provide on-the-floor technical support to Production and Assembly; lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize designs for manufacturability.
Define technical specifications for components and assist in sourcing/assessing alternate vendors to reduce costs and lead times.
Manage change order procedures and coordinate with Project Coordinators to ensure shipping deadlines and budget constraints are met.
Perform quality checks and generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as required.
University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years of relevant design experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in 3D modeling (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
Strong knowledge of industrial controls (pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical) is highly preferred.
Ability to manage multiple project tasks and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines.
Commitment to company safety policies and quality procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Occasional travel to project sites or vendor locations as required.
