The Organizational Development and Engagement Strategist is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and workplace culture. This role supports both operational and strategic goals through training, change management, and stakeholder engagement. The position works collaboratively across and departments to align initiatives with institutional and VP, Finance and Operation portfolio priorities and foster a culture of continuous improvement, inclusion, and innovation.
Reports to the Senior Manager, HR Advisory and may receive direction from senior leadership. Works collaboratively with HR teams, staff, and cross-functional units across the university.
Design and implement organizational development and engagement initiatives that support strategic goals and leverage institutional resources, including but not limited to leadership development, career development, succession planning, organizational design, employee engagement surveys and actions, workplace wellness and retention.
Lead and manage multiple concurrent projects, including change management, training, mentorship, and wellness programs.
Conduct needs assessments, environmental scans, and stakeholder consultations to inform program development.
Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives through surveys, feedback, and performance metrics.
Provide coaching and consultation to leaders and teams to support change initiatives and leadership development.
Monitor trends and emerging practices in organizational development, engagement, and diversity and inclusion.
Develop and deliver training programs and team development sessions using a variety of instructional methods.
Create and maintain program resources, training manuals, and communication tools.
Errors in judgment or ineffective implementation could result in reduced engagement, misalignment with institutional goals, and reputational risk.

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Experience in postsecondary or academic environments.
Demonstrated success in managing complex and ambiguous projects and delivering strategic initiatives.
Accomplished presentation skills including development and delivery.
Strong communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Knowledge of change management methodologies and organizational development best practices.
Certification or equivalent experience in coaching
Demonstrated skill and knowledge of current training and organizational development practices with strong emphasis on change management.
