Nursing Student / Personal Support Worker / Health Care Aide - Glasgow street, Kitchener, ON - CAD$243.00/week Description About Michael:
Michael is physically independent and enjoys being out and about. He loves walking, visiting museums, socializing, and exploring second-hand and antique stores. He lives with memory loss and cognitive impairments, which make it difficult for him to follow multi-step instructions or manage new environments on his own. Because of this, he cannot drive or go out alone, but he does not require help with personal care, meals, mobility, or medications.
Michael responds best to a caregiver who is calm, warm, slow-paced, and conversational. He benefits from clear, simple instructions, gentle reassurance, and one-step-at-a-time guidance, along with light conversation to help him feel grounded. He appreciates a caregiver who can give him space while still checking in regularly.
Role Focus:
• Providing companionship and social engagement • Supervising Michael for safety during outings • Taking him out for walks and community activities • Visiting museums, shops, and social spaces together • Providing occasional transportation (no heavy driving required) • Offering gentle cognitive support and reassurance
This role is focused entirely on companionship and engagement, not hands-on personal care.
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience supporting individuals with memory loss or cognitive impairments • Patient, calm, and reassuring caregiving style • Comfortable with active outings and community engagement • Strong communication skills and ability to give simple instructions • English-speaking • Reliable, consistent, and able to build trust • Available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during midday hours
Pay & Hours CAD$27.00/hr Hourly rate
