Deployment Engineer Location Montréal, QC : Location: Canada (Onsite Deployment Required) Type: Contract / Full-Time Start Date: ASAP Project Duration: Based on scope (installation and configuration phase) Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Deployment Engineer based in Canada who can install, configure, and validate enterprise-level Cisco UCS and Nexus infrastructure, along with NetApp AFF-C190 storage solutions. This role involves interpreting a detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) and ensuring the smooth deployment of all components at client data center sites.
Responsibilities:
Perform physical installation and racking of Cisco UCS 5108 chassis, UCS B200 M5 blade servers, Nexus 3524 switches, and NetApp AFF-C190 storage systems.
Configure and provision:
Cisco UCS Manager 4.2 and Intersight Managed Mode
Cisco Nexus NX-OS (9.3.6)
NetApp ONTAP features such as NVE (NetApp Volume Encryption) and Data-at-Rest Encryption.
Install and verify components including:
Cisco VIC 1440 LOM, PSU modules, DIMMs, CPUs, SFPs, cabling, and fan modules
NetApp software modules like SW-2-C190A-NVE-C, TPM, and AFF-C190A core bundles
Coordinate with client teams to validate power, cooling, and rack allocation.
Work with vendor support (Cisco/NetApp) for licensing, activation, and troubleshooting.
Conduct full system validation, burn-in testing, and handover documentation.
Provide post-installation support as needed.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in deploying Cisco UCS (B-Series) and Nexus 3K series.
- Strong experience with Cisco UCS Manager, Nexus 3K/9K switches, and NetApp AFF systems .
~ Familiarity with:
- UCS 6324 Fabric Interconnects
- SFP modules and high-speed cabling (10G/40G)
- Cisco NX-OS, NetApp ONTAP, and UCS Intersight
- Proven ability to interpret technical BOMs and follow deployment best practices.
- Capable of working independently and onsite in Canadian data centers.
- Cisco and NetApp certifications preferred (e.g., CCNP Data Center, NetApp NCDA).
Preferred Certifications:
CCNP Data Center or higher
NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA)
Cisco Certified Specialist - Data Center Implementation
