Financial Controller - Real estate industry

Our client, a well-established and growing organization in the real estate sector, is seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to lead and oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions. This is a leadership role suited for a hands-on professional with deep technical expertise and a strong background in property accounting.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of progressive accounting experience , with advanced knowledge of Yardi and a proven ability to manage financial operations in a dynamic environment.
Oversee the full-cycle accounting function , including general ledger, AP/AR, and month-end close
Supervise and mentor the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
Oversee property and portfolio-level reporting , including variance analysis and performance insights
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with senior leadership
Ensure compliance with IFRS/ASPE , tax regulations, and internal policies
Manage cash flow, treasury functions , and financial planning initiatives
Coordinate with external auditors and oversee the year-end audit process
Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and process improvements
Partner with operations and asset management teams to support strategic decision-making
10+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, with a strong focus on real estate or property management
CPA designation (or equivalent) strongly preferred
Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
