The Little Campus, founded in 2020, is a state-of-the-art Early Learning Centre located in Etobicoke, part of Toronto’s west end. The great thing about being the new kid on the block? Our founder & president began her career in education, so it probably won’t come as a surprise that she has a huge amount of respect for those in the teaching profession and a true understanding of what this job entails. At TLC, we are believers in the ‘ Whole Child Approach ,’ a teaching style that ensures each child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged each day. We love them as much as they adore the children in their classrooms! (And yes, loving kids is a must-have for this role.)

As per TLC policies, you’ll kindly agree to store your cell phone in your locker during working hours — we don’t think it’s too much to ask our ECEs to be fully present while in the presence of little ones!

Then it’s over to greet parents and children at drop-off time. You’ll continue to communicate with mom or dad as the day unfolds — have you ever met a parent that doesn’t love getting a photo of their happy babe in the middle of a busy work day?

Class time will be a mix of free play, outdoor time, rest, age-appropriate learning, healthy foods, and community involvement. Set your social butterfly free while organizing local excursions and seeking out opportunities for children to participate in and contribute to community events… in a socially distanced manner, of course!

As the day goes on, you’ll be observing and documenting children’s involvement and interactions, and creating a development portfolio for each child in your classroom. Each portfolio will include sample arts & crafts, letter work, simple math, and any other relevant classwork that would bring a smile to a parent’s face — not to mention lifelong memories for the children to look back on with fondness.

With the help of your ECA(s), you’ll be responsible for creating a secure environment for the little ones in your care — ensuring no child is left unattended, and that all children are kept clean and safe. This includes supervising washroom routines, encouraging proper hand hygiene, and administering medications when necessary.

And finally, be prepared to get your creative juices flowing while you develop engaging lesson plans that weave the Whole Child Approach into each activity. As you implement our developmentally based program into each day, it’s important that you’re open to adapting exercises and activities based on the children’s interests, gently encouraging each child’s curiosity and participation as you go.

Familiarity with the Whole Child Approach and/or Ontario Ministry of Education’s pedagogy, “ How Does Learning Happen?”
