Position Summary

Casual Part-Time Support Staff position

The Test Centre Invigilator supports the delivery of testing services within the Testing Centre. The incumbent assists with student registration, exam distribution, test monitoring, and the collection and tracking of complete exams. Testing formats include paper-based and computer-based assessments, and therefore, comfort with technology is essential.

The role requires a basic understanding of adaptive technology, test-monitoring software, and video surveillance tools. The successful candidate will proactively identify potential issues and contribute to a calm, secure, and supportive testing environment.

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus at Conestoga locations in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Milton, Stratford and Brantford. The Test Centre Invigilator may be scheduled up to 24 hours per week, Monday through Saturday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

Provide test instructions to candidates, including login details for computer-based exams

Confirm exam duration with each test taker

Monitor exam rooms, ensuring compliance with academic integrity standards

Ensure all materials are returned, and no academic misconduct occurs

Support students individually by reading questions, scribing answers, providing spelling assistance, or drawing diagrams based on verbal instruction from students, when permitted

Greet candidates, verify identification, and assign seating

Ensure adherence to scheduled exam timeframes

Collect, secure, and return exam materials to the Testing Centre

Respond calmly and professionally to unexpected situations and document accordingly (e.g., unregistered test takers, missing materials)

Escalate incidents to Testing Centre staff as needed

Assist with seat assignments related to accommodation needs

Print, scan and upload test materials as required

Qualifications

Three-year diploma or degree in business, education, arts, humanities, social science, science, technology, or a related field of study is required

One year of related work experience, such as testing or exam administration, student services, customer service or administrative support, is required

Familiarity with testing procedures would be an asset

Previous experience working with students would be an asset

Knowledge of adaptive technology is considered an asset

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Strong multitasking and attention to detail

Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills

Strong command of the English language, with the ability to pronounce specialized program terminology clearly and accurately

High level of computer literacy and ability to quickly learn new software

Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and solve problems effectively
