Your future role
Take on a key leadership role in a collaborative engineering environment. As a Structural Design Mechanical Lead Engineer (STR MLE) , you will lead the development of carbody structures for major rail projects, ensuring high-quality design delivery aligned with project requirements, timelines, and certification standards.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders to develop robust design solutions and support the successful delivery of innovative rail vehicles.

Key responsibilities
Lead the full requirements lifecycle, from analysis to validation and certification
Develop and deliver carbody structure (CBS) design solutions aligned with project specifications
Prepare and manage technical documentation for carbody shell and crash requirements
Coordinate with engineering teams (FEA, crash, weight) to ensure design integrity
Oversee the design team and support problem-solving and issue resolution
Ensure consistency and accuracy across designs, simulations, and deliverables
Review and validate deliverables to ensure quality and compliance standards
Support manufacturing, sourcing, and industrialization during project execution
Monitor performance (quality, cost, delivery) and escalate risks with mitigation plans
Contribute to system architecture and certification/validation plans
Your profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s an asset)
• Member of the OIQ
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design of complex assemblies (transport industry an asset)
• Strong knowledge of welded structures and geometric tolerancing
• Experience working in or with manufacturing environments
• Proven leadership and problem-solving skills in a project setting
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent maîtrise du français et de l’anglais, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit
