Senior Accountant - Manufacturing (Hamilton)
Our client, is a well-established Hamilton manufacturer with a history dating back to 1933, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. With most production taking place on-site, the company offers a unique opportunity to work closely with operations and leadership while managing full-cycle accounting in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The Senior Accountant will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the company. Reporting directly to the management team, you’ll be responsible for full-cycle accounting functions, from day-to-day financial transactions to month-end reporting, while supporting continuous improvements in accounting practices.
Position Type: Full-time, permanent, in office.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Manage full-cycle accounting: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and bank accounts
Monitor and manage cash flow and bank transactions
Payroll processing, including commission payments and administration of the group retirement plan and group benefits plan (50 employees, some independent contractors, some US-based; Assist with annual budgeting and year-end audit preparations
Prepare and analyze job costing for projects; Support the Plant Controller with identifying, analyzing, interpreting, and communicating financial data to ownership
Recommend improvements to accounting systems, processes, and internal controls
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar full-cycle accounting role; Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation is an asset but not required
Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP and tax compliance
Sound knowledge of ERP systems
Excellent Excel skills and overall MS Office proficiency
