Junior Estimator - Construction Industry

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Junior Estimator to join our client, a nationally active contractor delivering complex civil and structural projects across Canada. This is a strong opportunity for a developing estimator to gain hands-on exposure to diverse infrastructure work, while building technical depth and long-term career growth within a collaborative estimating team.
This role offers immediate exposure to complex tenders and mentorship from experienced estimators, positioning you for rapid growth into more senior responsibilities while contributing to meaningful infrastructure projects across the country. Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications to determine full project scope, requirements, and risk factors
Perform detailed quantity take-offs for labour, equipment, and materials
Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive bids
Prepare full cost estimates using industry software, including labour, materials, equipment, and markups
Coordinate with consultants, project teams, and external stakeholders throughout the bid process
Identify project risks and contribute to execution planning prior to project award
2+ years of experience in construction, estimating, or project coordination
- Experience with a general contractor or in civil construction is preferred
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is an asset
- Exposure to estimating scopes such as bridges, pile driving, roads, earthworks, drainage, demolition, or concrete structures is highly valued
- Familiarity with quantity take-offs, subcontractor procurement, and bid closing procedures
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project)
Experience with estimating software (Bid2Win preferred)
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or On-Screen Takeoff tools
Ability to support schedule development and interpret project timelines
