Accounting Specialist - Accounts Payable

Job Responsibility:
Purpose
The Accountants Payable and Vendor Analyst is responsible for performing a variety of accounting activities within the Accounts Payable capacity. Specifically:
Receive, review, and verify vendor invoices for accuracy.
Code and enter invoices into the accounts payable system, ensuring proper account allocation and expense categorization.
Resolve discrepancies or issues with invoices, collaborating with vendors and internal departments as necessary.
Process employee expense and corporate credit cards
Obtain necessary approvals for invoice and payment processing.
Collaborate with other departments, such as purchasing and receiving, to ensure accurate and efficient processing of invoices and payments.
Prepare payment batches, initiate payments to vendors and post payments once approved.
Reconcile vendor statements, identify and resolve any payment discrepancies or outstanding issues.
Address vendor inquiries and resolve issues related to invoices, payments, and account balances.
Assist with month-end, year end, and audit procedures.
Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements in all accounts payable processes.
Support the accounts payable supervisor or manager in various tasks and projects as assigned.
Reporting to the AP Team Lead, the position is based in our Mississauga, Ontario office.
Required Experience & Skills
- Education: College Diploma or equivalent experience
- Accounting software: Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Great Plains
- Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Advanced Excel
- 3+ years of work experience in a similar role
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proactive, self-starter with a strong work ethic
- Well organized with the ability to work independently Great attention to detail
