Title: Ag Operations Specialist Location: Taber, AB About Lamb Weston Lamb Weston is a leading supplier of frozen potato, sweet potato, appetizer and vegetable products to restaurants and retailers around the world. Summary Under the supervision of the Manager Ag Operations or his/her designee, the Ag Operations Specialist will serve as a liaison between the company and growers. This individual will be involved in having growers sign contracts, sample and evaluate crops, and work with growers regarding their field and storage management. Assist in scheduling field and storage deliveries to meet production quantity and quality requirements. This position will have supervisory authority and work closely with the other staff members and other departments to meet performance, quality and safety goals and standards established by the employer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Always maintain and promote safe work practices.
Participate in safety programs.
Train and supervise subordinates in safety and accident prevention practices to assure a safe employee and working environment.
Provides supervision, training, and leadership to ensure that employees are performing assigned work properly.
Build and foster business relationships with growers, suppliers, and contractors.
Collaborate with growers and plant production personnel to coordinate deliveries with plant needs.
Responsible for training, evaluation, and direction of employees involved in raw product deliveries.
Assure that the field equipment and the operations of the equipment follows Lamb-Weston guidelines.
Direct the movement of raw product from the source to the plant, to assure that plant raw product needs are met in a manner consistent with goals.
Inspects automotive equipment, scheduling needed repair or service work.
Coordinates operation and maintenance of equipment, storage facilities, and repair facilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises 2 to 6 subordinate employees within the field department during peak seasonal periods.
Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Studies, Business, Science or equivalent is strongly recommended; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
