JOB POSTING Director, Finance and Administration
Full Time - 35 hours a week; Permanent Position
Central Toronto Youth Services (CTYS) is an accredited, progressive Children’s Mental Health Centre providing a range of mental health services for youth and their families. CTYS is known as a widely recognized and respected leader on Equity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism in the children mental health sector and offers award winning specialized services for 2SLGBTQ+ youth and Black identified youth.
As Director of Finance and Administration, you will direct the effective management, control and reporting of the agency’s fiscal resources and be responsible for the oversight of bank accounts, credit cards, and accounts payable, payroll, administration and human resources. The candidate will also report monthly to the Finance and Audit Committee. As a member of the executive leadership team, you will provide direct supervision to management and finance staff and oversee major projects and processes in finance and administration.
Establishes and oversees financial control and reporting mechanisms
Provide leadership in maintaining high functioning staff teams and oversee administrative and operational functions pertaining to staff and the programs including overseeing and providing direct supervision for management of Admin and Human Resources and finance and payroll staff
Manages the administration of all financial records, accounting processes and monthly accumulative and annual financial reports and statements
Conducts expenditure variance analysis and updates rolling annual forecasts
Represents the agency in contacts with external auditors and representatives of banking institutions, and related government agencies
Provides expert advice and recommendations to the Executive Director and Board of Directors regarding financial matters and decisions
Maintains compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), Canada Revenue Agency regulations, including HST reporting and procedures, and compliance reporting to Canada Revenue Agency’s Charities Division, and oversees all accounting processes, rebate programs, government remittances, and tax returns
Lead all functions associated with the year-end audit in consultation with the external auditor
Oversees the admin, payroll, and HR processes and all related reporting functions
Minimum three (3) years' experience working in a not-for-profit, government-funded organization in a finance management or executive leadership role
Bachelor's degree in commerce, Finance, Business Administration or related field, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation is preferred
Expert knowledge of financial planning, financial management and accounting/ financial reporting systems and procedures to manage the agency’s fiscal and business affairs
Excellent planning and administration skills to effectively manage diverse and specialized support services for the agency
Strong knowledge of accounting and payroll software with experience in QBO and Ceridian or ADP
Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills to participate in the development of strategic and operational plans and policy recommendations
Experience with payroll processing and financial reporting
Ability to provide advice to directors and managers in the preparation and monitoring of operational budgets
Strong people management with experience in building, motivating, mentoring and coaching a diverse high-performing team
Highly effective decision-making skills, adaptive and flexible with strong financial and operational capabilities
Strong proficiency with MS Office suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)
Vacation: 15 days first year, 20 days after one year of service
Personal Leave: 17 days
