Library Assistant (Temporary Part-Time)

We are the third largest public library system in Canada, with more than 800 staff members offering services at 21 locations across the city. We lend over 5 million items per year to our community, including books, streaming content, musical instruments, and more. Nearly 200,000 people attend our programs and events to learn, be inspired, and connect with others around important ideas.

Role Type: Fully on-site

Reporting to the Circulation Supervisor, the incumbent provides service to the public, meeting established Library strategic objectives and service standards. Demonstrates and models conduct that adheres to the library’s policies and procedures in accordance with the Library’s vision, mission and values. Education/Qualifications:

~ Completion of the twelfth school grade, including or supplemented by basic computer and word-processing courses.

Experience in a customer service environment. Related experience in the provision of library services preferred.

Knowledge of library methods, procedures and tools applicable to the work.
Working knowledge of the objectives, organization, procedures, services and resources of the Library.
Excellent customer service skills.

Employment Type: Temporary Part-Time / Posted Part-Time / Temporary Full-Time / Regular Full-Time
Salary: $25.93 to $30.41 per hour
Schedule 1: Regular Full-Time
Temporary Full-Time until January 9th, 2028 with the possibility of extension or curtailment
Saturday: 9:40am – 6:10pm (EDO Week 2)

S chedule 3: Posted Part-Time (22 hours)
Saturday: 10:10am – 6:10pm (7)
Temporary Part-Time (20.5 hours) until May 31, 2028 with the possibility of extension or curtailment
Saturday: 10:00am – 6:00pm (7)
Sunday: 10:30am – 5:00pm (6.5)
