Recreation Services Attendant

Plan and facilitate a variety of leisure/recreational activities, which are appropriate to age, skill level and interests; Prepare and distribute summer program plan detailing daily and/or weekly activities.
Ensure the safety of the participants while involved in leisure/recreational activities both inside and outside of the facility.
Liaise with and schedule appropriate entertainment/tours/activities.
Observe participant behavior and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
Gather data, maintain statistics, and compile information for reports as required.

Normal hours of work: shifts will include days and occasional weekends.

This position is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
Note : International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

Currently pursuing an education in post-secondary studies (Social Services, Human Services or Developmental Service Worker, Therapeutic Recreation/Recreation & Leisure Studies).
A minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience in a social service setting and some experience in providing direct care to children, youth or adults who have intellectual disabilities; Participate in mandatory orientation training, on-going professional development and training.
Participate in regular supervision and performance appraisal process.
Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures and associated legislation.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
Lead by example, by demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change.
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products is required - i.e. Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint; Fluent French verbal and written communication skills are an asset.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
