FIFO Red Seal HVACR Technician - $55-$65/hr - Based in Rankin Inlet, NU

A leading service provider and retailer to the Nunavut communities is looking for a Red Seal HVAC/R Technician to support infrastructure and repair in Rankin, Arviat, and Naujaat.

Permanent FIFO position

Rotating schedule: Salary: $55 - $65 an hour + Overtime available after 40hrs in a week

• As a Red Seal HVACR Technician working across different communities in Nunavut, a normal day would include:

Heating & HVAC System Maintenance:

• Install, repair, and maintain furnaces, boilers, and heat pumps in homes, businesses, and community buildings.
• Ensure proper operation of forced-air and hydronic (hot water) heating systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair fuel-burning appliances (oil, propane, or natural gas).
• Maintain ventilation systems to ensure proper indoor air quality.

Refrigeration & Cooling Systems:

• Install, service, and repair walk-in freezers, refrigerators, and cold storage units for food preservation.
• Service commercial HVAC/R systems in grocery stores, schools, and hospitals.

Gas Fitting & Piping Systems:

• Install and maintain fuel supply lines for heating equipment.
• Perform inspections on oil and propane tanks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Perform regular system inspections and tune-ups to prevent breakdowns in extreme weather.

• Respond to emergency repair calls, especially during winter when heating failures can be life-threatening.
• Work in remote or fly-in locations, often requiring travel by snowmobile or aircraft.

Adapt to limited access to parts and supplies, often requiring creative problem-solving.

- Collaborate with local governments, housing authorities, and private businesses to support essential infrastructure.

3+ years of technical and trade experience in commercial environments

• Red Seal certification is required
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a technical level
• Strong client focus with demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service
• Valid class 5 license and good driving record
