Location: This role can be based anywhere in Canada (excluding Quebec) as a fully remote position. For candidates located in the Vancouver BC Lower Mainland there is flexibility to work remote hybrid or onsite at our Surrey headquarters.
Annual Base Salary: $88400 - $105600 CAD Profit Sharing Bonus eligibility
Web Developer II
As a Web Developer II on Safe Softwares Service Enablement Team (SET) youll help maintain and improve a suite of public-facing websites and internal tools. This is a hands-on full-stack role where youll balance day-to-day feature requests and bug fixes with longer-term initiatives designed to improve the reliability maintainability and usability of our web services.
Working as a key collaborator for our senior developers you will touch nearly every part of our technical stack. Your contributions will range from enhancing user interfaces on our corporate and partner-facing sites to building out the backend logic and infrastructure that powers our internal and external APIs. Youll also assist in evolving core business workflows such as our software licensing systems into more efficient and scalable services.
This role is ideal for a versatile developer who enjoys variety - whether youre shipping a new search filter for a public site refining a tool for internal staff or architecting the platforms that make our technical services and APIs discoverable.
We focus on integrating systems and building tools that enhance internal collaboration and operational efficiency. SET is a remote-first team with members across Canada. As a Web Developer II you will:
Implement features and fixes across a variety of platforms including our corporate website partner-facing portals and internal resource hubs.
Assist senior developers in transitioning core licensing workflows into updated scalable backend services.
Expand our API landscape by building new endpoints and contributing to the platforms that make our technical services more discoverable and accessible
Deliver full-stack updates ranging from enhancing front-end user interfaces (like search filters and navigation) to refining backend logic.
Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to ensure our web experiences are accessible secure and high-performing.
Participate in code reviews and technical discussions contributing to a culture of shared knowledge and maintainable code.
At Safe Software we welcome diverse backgrounds and experiences. Full-Stack Development Experience: Proven experience building web applications using and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
Frontend Proficiency: Strong skills in component-based frameworks specifically or Nuxt (experience with React is also a plus).
Experience building and consuming REST APIs and working with cloud-native services like AWS Lambda and API Gateway.
Version Control & CI/CD: Proficiency with Git and experience with modern development workflows including GitHub Actions or similar automation tools.
Versatility: The ability to move between high-priority bug fixes routine maintenance and long-term project tasks effectively.
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within a distributed remote-first team.
CMS Experience: Familiarity with WordPress development (custom themes plugins or integrations).
Database Knowledge: Experience working with relational databases such as MariaDB or PostgreSQL.
Experience with Python for automation or backend logic.
Web Fundamentals: A solid understanding of web performance accessibility (AODA/WCAG) and responsive design.
