Saanich Commonwealth Place is currently hiring Lifeguards and Assistant Lifeguards to support our aquatic team in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for pool users of all ages and abilities. Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision of patrons in and around the water, accident prevention, first aid response, and the facilitation of aquatic games and activities. Assistant Lifeguards provide supplemental supervision, promote safe aquatic behaviour, and assist in emergency situations under the direction of a Lifeguard or Team Leader. Both positions play a key role in supporting positive public relations and ensuring high standards of safety and service.
To be considered for the Lifeguard position, candidates must have completed Grade 10 and be at least 16 years of age. A current National Lifeguard – Pool certification (Waterpark Option for SCP), Standard First Aid with CPR-C (within the past 3 years), and a minimum of one month of related experience are required. For the Assistant Lifeguard position, candidates must be at least 15 years old and hold a current Bronze Cross (within the past 2 years) and Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends and nights (hours/shifts are subject to change). As a component of the selection process testing will be conducted. These are C.Local 2011 positions with a wage of $26.55 per hour for Lifeguard position and $22.86 per hour for Assistant Lifeguard position plus 15% in lieu of benefits.
