We are looking to add a Civil Engineer to fill a new position, who will play a hands-on role in delivering projects, building trusted client relationships, and supporting the continued development of our engineering services in the region.

Based in Yellowknife , you will be part of a close-knit team working directly with clients and communities across the Northwest Territories , while also supporting projects in Nunavut and Yukon as part of Dillon’s broader Northern practice.

You will also work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Dillon’s offices nationwide, coordinating the right expertise for each project while maintaining a strong local presence. What your day will look like Project Management

Technical lead and design on projects related to municipal and/or land development infrastructure including water supply, sewers, roads, site servicing and storm water management

Contribute technical expertise to functional design, detailed design and construction administration activities of multidisciplinary project teams

Management of municipal and land development infrastructure projects related to water supply, sewers, roads, site servicing and storm water management

Regularly interact with project team members including planners, environmental scientists, engineers and technologists

Regular interaction with clients, agencies, utilities and other project stakeholders

Working knowledge of municipal servicing standards and provincial regulatory requirements

Leadership in the maintenance of existing client relationships including preparation of proposals and statement of qualification

Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request

Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring

Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

A degree in civil engineering

  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in the Northwest Territories
  • Demonstrated success in the leadership of multidisciplinary project teams and business development

Experienced in the design of various municipal infrastructure including water supply systems, sewage systems, roadways, storm water management works, underground and surface site servicing works, and/or waste management facilities

Experience with trenchless technologies and applications would be an asset

Experience working on municipal infrastructure projects in Northern Canada or other remote and cold climate environments would be considered an asset

Knowledge of permafrost conditions and northern engineering design considerations, including frost heave mitigation, thermal impacts on infrastructure, and construction in remote environments, would be considered an asset

Experience coordinating with geotechnical investigations and applying geotechnical recommendations for infrastructure development in permafrost regions would be considered an asset

Experience with stormwater management, wastewater and water distribution calculations and modelling applications would be an asset

In depth knowledge of contract administration services and requirements, including Master Municipal Construction Documents

Expert knowledge of municipal servicing standards and environmental approvals requirements

Demonstrated skills in public and agency consultation

Strong proficiency in proposal and report writing, presentations, communications, organization and interpersonal skills
