Job Responsibility:
ROLE: Payroll Specialist (12-month contract)
REPORTS TO: Payroll Manager
LOCATION: Burnaby, BC
We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll Team! In this role, you will be responsible for the administration of payroll and benefits while supporting the payroll team as needed while they implement a new Payroll System.

Experience

• You have at least 5 years of experience in Canadian payroll and accounting, including unionized environments.
• You have worked with complex payroll systems in large organizations.
• Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with third-party payroll software such as Avanti and ADP.
• French language skills.

• Process bi-weekly payroll for head office and provide backup support to the team.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and address discrepancies.
• Assist in payroll-related journal entries, source deductions, and tax filings.
• Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
• Assist with various month-end and year-end reporting tasks.
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and company policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Detailed Description of Duties:

• Support the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees.
• Manage payroll data for new hires, terminations, ROEs, rate adjustments, and deductions.
• Reconcile and maintain payroll filings, including benefits, WCB, and tax submissions.
• Assist with payroll journal entries, source deductions, and month-end/year-end reporting.
• Help administer employee benefits, including enrollments, updates, and terminations.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contractContract length: 12 months
Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
