We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior WordPress Developer to join our core web team. In this role, you will maintain and enhance existing client websites while also developing brand-new custom themes and plugins. If you have a deep understanding of WordPress architecture and a passion for creating innovative web solutions, we invite you to bring your expertise to our dynamic and collaborative environment.

As a Senior Wordpress Developer, you are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of Wordpress architecture and a proven track record in developing custom Wordpress themes and plugins. Writing clean, efficient and reusable code, along with a commitment to industry standards and best practices, is essential for this role. Beyond development, you will provide valuable insights into web technologies, frameworks, user experience and current trends. While the primary focus is on WordPress development, familiarity with other web technologies and CMS platforms is important for handling inherited sites and site migrations. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for staying current with evolving web standards.
Extensive experience with WordPress development architecture (core functionalities and Rest API, as well as custom theme, plugin and block development).
- Strong understanding of PHP and SQL.
- Proficiency in Javascript (without a dependency on libraries like jQuery or Alpine).
- Excellent and responsive front-end development skills.
- Experience with Bootstrap or similar responsive design frameworks like Tailwind or Foundation.
- Proficient in cross-browser and multi-device compatibility with graceful degradation techniques.
- Proficiency in using Git for version control.
- Familiarity with web security best practices and common vulnerabilities (e.g., Understanding of website performance optimization techniques and tools.
Bonus Skills
Drupal, Joomla, Laravel).
Javascript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js) - specifically React Custom Blocks within Wordpress.
Experience with deployment processes and tools (e.g., SSH, SFTP, CI/CD pipelines).
Candidates must have at least 7 years of web development experience, including at least 5 years of professional custom WordPress development. This position is open to Canadian residents only.
